We celebrate 60 years of town-twinning with Harpenden’s Friends of Alzey and Friends of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire.
Found in Translation explores settings of texts in languages other than the composer’s mother tongue. These include Händel’s Zadok the Priest and Mäntyjärvi’s Four Shakespeare Songs, as well as an intriguing selection of music from composers born as far apart as Estonia and Brazil.
The highlight of the concert will be the premiere of a new piece by Kim Porter, Der Fluss, which sets text from Hermann Hesse’s Siddharta. We are grateful to the Friends of Alzey and Cosne for sponsoring this commission.
